£30,000 Data Guarantee

Carpeep provides a £30,000 Data Guarantee in relation to specific information shown in a Carpeep vehicle history report.

The guarantee applies where a Carpeep report fails to show outstanding finance, an insurance write-off, or a stolen vehicle record at the time the report is generated, and where this directly results in a genuine financial loss.

The maximum amount payable under this guarantee is £30,000 per vehicle check.

What the guarantee covers

The Data Guarantee applies only to the following:

  • Outstanding finance
  • Insurance write-off status
  • Stolen vehicle status

When the guarantee may apply

A claim may be considered where:

  • The vehicle history report was purchased directly from Carpeep.
  • The relevant finance, write-off, or stolen status information was incorrect or missing at the time the report was generated.
  • The Carpeep report was obtained before purchase and relied upon when deciding to buy the vehicle.
  • A direct and provable financial loss was suffered as a result.

Notification deadline

Carpeep must be notified of any potential claim within 30 days of the report being generated. Claims raised after this period are not eligible.

Conditions for eligibility

1. Vehicle identity

  • The vehicle purchased must correspond to the vehicle identified in the Carpeep report.
  • The guarantee does not apply where the vehicle is misidentified, substituted, cloned, or otherwise does not match the registration details checked.

2. Absence of prior indicators

  • At the time of purchase, there must have been no reasonable cause to suspect an issue relating to outstanding finance, insurance write-off status, or stolen status.
  • Where information provided by the seller conflicted with the Carpeep report and the purchase proceeded regardless, the guarantee does not apply.

3. Reliance on the report

  • The Carpeep report must have been obtained prior to purchase and materially relied upon when deciding to proceed.
  • The guarantee does not apply where the report was obtained after purchase or was not relied upon.

4. Evidence of transaction

  • Evidence of the transaction must be retained, including the purchase price, date of purchase, and identity of the seller.
  • Payment must have been made using a traceable method capable of verification.

5. Claim timing

  • Notification of a claim must be made within 30 days of the report being generated.
  • Claims notified outside this period are not eligible.

6. Vehicle availability

The vehicle must not be sold, transferred, disposed of, or materially altered before Carpeep has had the opportunity to review the claim.

7. Accuracy and cooperation

  • Information provided in connection with a claim must be complete, accurate, and truthful.
  • Claims may be declined where information is misleading, incomplete, or inconsistent.

8. Personal use only

  • The guarantee applies only to private individuals purchasing a vehicle for personal use.
  • It does not apply to purchases connected with the motor trade, resale, hire, or business use.

Failure to meet any of the above conditions will result in the guarantee not applying.

What the guarantee does not cover

The Data Guarantee does not apply to:

  • Data added, amended, or updated after the report was generated.
  • Mileage discrepancies or odometer readings.
  • Vehicle condition, mechanical faults, or cosmetic issues.
  • Seller misrepresentation, concealment, or fraud.
  • Administrative delays or limitations affecting third-party data sources.
  • Indirect or consequential losses, or perceived reduction in vehicle value.

A vehicle history report supports informed decision-making but cannot identify every possible risk associated with a vehicle.

Liability limit

Carpeep's liability under this Data Guarantee is limited to the actual financial loss directly caused by covered data being incorrect, up to a maximum of £30,000 per report.

No compensation is payable for inconvenience, loss of opportunity, or distress.

Effective Date: 18 January 2026
